Tester agreement

Parties and subject

This agreement is between BountyShift and the person testing on the platform. It sets out how you take a job, how you deliver it, and what you get for it.

The nature of the relationship

This is not an employment contract. No employer and employee relationship is formed; no social security, severance, notice or annual leave arises. You work on your own device, at hours you choose, from where you choose. Taking a job or leaving it is your decision every time.

Who can be a tester

You must be 18 or over, give accurate identity details, and hold an account that can receive payment. One person opens one account.

Taking a job, and slots

Every job states how many testers it takes. How many jobs you can hold at once depends on your level. When a job's slots are full it closes and takes nobody else.

Delivery window

Every job you take has a delivery window. When it runs out the job leaves you and your slot frees up again. Missing the window repeatedly lowers your level.

How you deliver

You work through the steps in order, what you did is recorded on its own, and you back up what you saw with evidence you add yourself. Work with no record is not treated as delivered.

Honesty

Showing a step as done when it was not, altering the record afterwards, producing a fake record with automation, or working on somebody else's account all breach this agreement. Where it is confirmed, no payment is made and the account is closed.

The fee

Each job's fee is visible before you take it and is fixed. It does not change with how many faults you find. When your work is accepted, its value is added to your balance.

Rejection and disputes

If your work is rejected you are told why, in writing. You have the right to dispute it. If the dispute goes your way, the fee is added to your balance. The steps and the time limits are set out on the disputes page.

Payment

Payment is made once your balance passes the stated minimum. Payments run weekly. The methods, the minimum and the earnings detail are on the payment page.

Tax

Declaring and paying tax on what you earn is yours to do. Where the law requires us to withhold something, we show it plainly before the payment goes out.

Confidentiality

Everything you test is confidential. The detail is in the confidentiality undertaking, and that document is an inseparable part of this agreement.

Intellectual property

The right to use the evidence, reports and findings you produce during testing passes to the company that gave the work. You cannot claim a right over the fix for a fault you found.

Suspension

Fabricated evidence, a confidentiality breach, more than one account, or working under somebody else's identity all lead to suspension. Your open jobs are cancelled the moment you are suspended.

Leaving

You can close your account whenever you want. If you have open jobs at that moment you either finish them or drop them first. The balance you have earned is paid to you.

Changes

If this document changes you are told before the change takes effect. Continuing to take jobs after that notice means you accept it.

What BountyShift is

BountyShift is a marketplace for software testing work. Companies send their new builds here to be tested, and the work is done entirely remotely — from home, on your own computer or phone. There are five kinds of job: website, mobile app, desktop software, embedded device and game testing. Every job's fee is known before you take it and is fixed; it does not change with how many faults you find, and a job where you find nothing is still paid. Payments run weekly, and no commission is taken from testers.
